ASSESSMENTS - PAT DOGS AUSTRALIA
The Public Access Test (PAT) is an annual evaluation of a dog's suitability as an assistance dog in public spaces. This test assesses the dog's appropriateness within the public domain.
To ensure that dogs with public access are stable, well-behaved, and inconspicuous to the public. It verifies that the client can control the dog, and the team does not pose a public risk
The PAT, established by Assistance Dogs International (ADI), consists of standards used by its member organisations to evaluate the public suitability of accredited assistance dog teams regularly.
Any dog exhibiting aggressive behavior will be disqualified. Similarly, any dog that has an accident inside a building or displays uncontrollable behavior will also be disqualified.
The essence of this test is to confirm that the dog is safe in public and that the handler maintains control of the dog at all times.
